Scope
Defines the measurement method for the evaluation of base station energy consumption under static test conditions.
Summary
This standard starts with the assumption that the energy consumption of the access network is dominating the energy consumption of other subsystems of the wireless telecom networks and defines the measurement method for the evaluation of base station power consumption and energy consumption. ETSI ES 202 706-1 focuses on defining methods for average power consumption of BS equipment under static test conditions, i.e. when the BS is loaded artificially in a lab environment with three levels of load, namely low, medium and busy hour. All radio access technologies currently in operation are treated in the document.
The calculated power/energy consumption is a weighted average of power/energy consumption under the three mentioned load levels, where weighting factors are based on relative duration of individual measurements. Thus:
where, 𝑡𝐵𝐻, 𝑡𝑚𝑒𝑑, 𝑡𝑙𝑜𝑤 present the measurement durations under the three specific load levels. Their sum (denominator above) is typically 24 hours.
Relevance for EXIGENCE
Relevant for energy metrics and energy measurements.
