Scope
L.1330 contains the definition of metrics for energy efficiency utilised in L.1310. It defines the topology and level of analysis necessary to assess the energy efficiency of mobile networks, with a focus on the RAN part (radio base stations, backhauling systems, radio controllers and other infrastructure radio site equipment) for GSM to LTE (no 5G).
Summary
The energy consumption metric ECMN in this recommendation focuses on the RAN, BTS (BS), site infrastructure (SI), backhauling (BH), and radio control nodes (RC) computed per RAT.

Hence, when comparing the energy consumption calculation to L.1331, eq. (1) does not include small cells and cloud computing. Similar performance metrics are defined as in L.1331

for mobile network data energy efficiency and MN coverage energy efficiency.
However, L.1330 contains the definitions that are referred to in L.1331 such as:
- Energy efficiency: The relation between the useful output and energy/power consumption.
- Energy saving feature: A feature which contributes to decreasing energy consumption as compared to the case when the feature is not implemented.
- Mobile network coverage energy efficiency: The ratio between the area covered by the network in the mobile network under investigation and the energy consumption.
- Mobile network data energy efficiency: The ratio between the performance indicator based on data volume and the energy consumption when assessed during the same time frame.
- Mobile network energy consumption: The overall energy consumption of equipment included in the MN is under investigation.
- Mobile network energy efficiency: The energy efficiency of a mobile network.
- Mobile network performance delivered: The performance indicator of the MN under investigation, defined as the data volume delivered by the mobile network under investigation during the time frame of the energy consumption assessment.
- Power consumption: The power consumed by a device needed to achieve an intended application performance.
Relevance for EXIGENCE
The definitions are relevant to energy metrics and are used in L.1331 (which is more appropriate for end-to-end energy efficient assessment of mobile networks including RAN and core assessment).
